Honda has a long and rich history in North America. The company's commitment to the region began in 1979 with motorcycle production in Marysville, Ohio. After the Marysville Auto Plant (MAP) opened in 1982, Honda started producing automobiles in North America, a process that’s accelerated with each passing year.
The company now employs over 33,000 associates across 18 North American plants that produce vehicles, engines, and power equipment and is committed to using domestic and globally sourced parts. Honda has invested over $25.7 billion into North American operations, further solidifying their commitment to the region.
The Future of Electrification
We're excited about the Honda brand's future and commitment to EVs. The company's recent investments in Ohio will transform existing plants and establish a new battery facility, creating new jobs and ensuring that Honda remains at the forefront of automotive technology.
Future plans include significant investments in electric vehicle (EV) production and the creation of a dedicated "EV Hub" in Ohio. This hub is slated to include a new battery facility and the transformation of existing plants. It will further the company’s commitment to making battery-electric and fuel-cell electric vehicles 100% of its North American sales by 2040, en route to carbon neutrality by 2050.
